Overview<\/h2>\n
Paribus 365™ Data Cleansing uses Microsoft SQL Server to host its Control Database(s). The Paribus 365 Control Database is used to manage the match process and store the definitions and configurations created in the process of using Paribus 365™ Data Cleansing .<\/p>\n
While some Paribus 365 users will only require a single Control Database to perform their tasks, others may require the ability to create new Control Databases. This is quite common when a new source of data is being \u201cmatched\u201d against.<\/p>\n
One solution to this problem is to simply give the user the \u2018sa<\/b>\u2019 SQL Server login details; but this is both unnecessary and potentially destructive in terms of database management.<\/p>\n
A better solution is to create a new SQL login which only gives the user access to do what is required for Paribus Discovery.<\/p>\n
Creating a new SQL database login account<\/h2>\n
This section shows you how to create a new login account for a SQL Server database. This login can then be granted certain permissions, depending on the requirements of the Paribus user.<\/p>\n
NOTE: If using a version of Paribus 365 Data Cleansing prior to 1.3.3; there can be an issue of Case-Sensitivity with SQL Server 2005.

- \n
- Open the \u201cMicrosoft SQL Server Management Studio\u201d<\/li>\n
- In the Object Explorer (on the left-hand side):<\/li>\n
- Expand the Security<\/b> folder<\/li>\n
- Expand the Logins<\/b> folder<\/li>\n
- Right-click on the Logins<\/b> folder and select New Login\u2026
\n<\/b>(This will open the New Login window – Figure 1)<\/span><\/li>\n- Type in the new SQL Server user\u2019s login name<\/li>\n
- Choose option \u201cSQL Server Authentication\u201d<\/li>\n
- Type in the new user\u2019s password (and confirm the password)<\/li>\n
- (OPTIONAL) Set the password expiry options as required<\/li>\n
- Click [OK]<\/b> when finished.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Granting new login to obtain list of databases<\/h3>\n
In order for Paribus 365™ Data Cleansing to offer a list of Control Databases that the user can access, the new login needs to be granted a particular permission (View any definition).<\/p>\n

- In the Object Explorer (on the left-hand side):<\/li>\n
- Right-click on the Server name and click Properties
\n<\/b>(Typically located at the top of the tree of folders)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThis action will open the Server Properties window (Figure 2)<\/p>\n
- \n
- On the left-hand side of the window, in the \u201cSelect a page\u201d pane: click on Permissions<\/b><\/li>\n
- Locate the newly created login from the list in the top pane, titled \u201cLogins or roles\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The lower pane will now list the permissions that have currently been granted to the user\u2019s login<\/p>\n

- Scroll down the list of \u201cExplicit permissions\u201d for the new login and Grant (

Granting access to Paribus Control Databases<\/h2>\n
In order for the new SQL account to be used to login to Paribus 365™ Data Cleansing the account must also be granted access to each Control Database that you want to use.<\/p>\n
Grant permissions to access a Paribus 365 Control Database<\/h3>\n
- \n
- In the Object Explorer (on the left-hand side):<\/li>\n
- Expand the Databases<\/b> folder<\/li>\n
- Expand the database you want to give access to
\n(e.g. \u201cParibusControl\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n- Expand the Security<\/b> folder<\/li>\n
- Expand the Users<\/b> folder, which lists all the users that have been granted access to that database.<\/li>\n
- Now, right-click on the Users<\/b> folder and select New User\u2026<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This will open the New Database User window (Figure 3)<\/p>\n

- Enter the User name, followed by the Login name (using the<\/span> [\u2026]<\/b> user name search tool, if necessary)<\/span><\/li>\n
- In the \u201cRole Members\u201d list (located at the bottom part of this window): scroll down the list and make sure you select the \u201cQG_ParibusUser<\/b>\u201d database role.<\/li>\n
- Click [OK]<\/b> to save changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Allowing creation of Paribus 365 Control Databases<\/h2>\n
If the Paribus 365™ Data Cleansing user also requires the ability to create new Paribus 365 Control Databases, follow the steps outlined below:<\/p>\n
Grant permissions to create databases<\/h3>\n

- In the Object Explorer (on the left-hand side): locate the new account, which is under the Logins<\/b> folder.<\/li>\n
- Now right-click on the new user login and select Properties<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This will open the Database User Properties window (Figure 4)<\/p>\n

- On the left-hand side of the window, in the \u201cSelect a page\u201d pane: click on Server Roles<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This will show all the security roles that have (or could be) assigned to the new login account.<\/p>\n

- Select the dbcreator<\/b> Server role
\nNote<\/b>: Choosing <\/span>sysadmin<\/b> will effectively grant this new login the same permissions as the \u201c<\/span>sa<\/b>\u201d login.<\/span><\/li>\n- Click [OK]<\/b> to save changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
