QGate Solution Center – Usage Guide

Summary

The QGate Solution Center is intended to provide assistance with support and maintenance of QGate product solutions.

Initially, the primary feature of the QGate Solution Center is to provide assistance by detailing a comprehensive view of the installed QGate products.  This can not only save time when performing audits, but will also aid troubleshooting and technical support.

Solutions View

The solutions view outlines all QGate solutions that are currently installed on the machine:

A product solution typically comprises of many components, which enable the solution to function.  For each installed solution, the QGate Solution Center shows a detailed itemized view of all of the components that the solution depends on, along with their version and installation status.

One of the useful features of the QGate Solution Center is that it will automatically highlight any known product version incompatibilities.  For example, if a newer product solution is installed, which updates a core component that another solution depends on to an incompatible version, the QGate Solution Center will be able to highlight such an issue.

From this view, it is also possible to click on a component to view its own dependencies, versions and installation status.

Components View

The components view outlines all QGate components that are currently installed on the machine:

As opposed to the “hierarchical” solution view, the components view essentially provides a “flattened” view of only the components.

From this view, it is also possible to click on a component to view its own dependencies, versions and installation status.

For Technical Support

One of the reasons that the QGate Solution Center was first created was to provide a central, concise snapshot of the QGate products installed.  From one central place you can now determine the versions, installation status and any potential application conflicts, to aid in resolving any technical issues.

In addition to the views mentioned above, the QGate Solution Center also provides a quick and easy ability to copy all information displayed so that it can then be pasted into an e-mail or other application.
This can be achieved by clicking the [Copy] button at any time.

Looking Ahead

The Solutions/Components view is only the first steps for the QGate Solution Center.  Our vision is that this central utility will ultimately provide the following features:

  • Notification of product solution updates
  • Access to release notes for new product solution versions
  • Easy download for new product solution versions
  • Licensing management
